Explore Your Trails and Parks this Fall

September 26, 2024

As temperatures cool this Fall, there is no better time to rev up your outdoor exercise. This is also a wonderful time of year to go out into nature, observe the changing leaves, and really pause to appreciate the beauty and majesty of Fall. Time in nature is powerful for our minds and bodies. Within minutes of being outside, our blood pressure and stress hormones begin to decline. You may also experience a boost in mood and overall sense of well-being.

Likely, you won’t have to go to far to access a park, walking trail, or bike path that allows you to explore the season and keep up your step count. Exploring the parks closest to your home, or on the way home from work, is one easy option. Also, consider the following resources to plan your outdoor adventure:

  • Check out the free app “AllTrails” for maps and details on local hiking or biking trails
  • Search your State, County, or City website for information on parks and trails
  • Visit National Parks
  • See if you area has an arboretum or protected nature/wildlife area with walking trails
  • Ask friends and coworkers where they like to walk, hike, bike, or picnic
