As we lean into the Spring season, the increase in daylight hours is something to celebrate! This often correlates with feeling more energized, as light helps to signal to our bodies that it is time to be awake, plus can help to boost Vitamin D levels. You might notice a renewed motivation in your wellness goals. So often, shifting into this season inspires increased outdoor activity, as well as offering an abundance of more affordable, seasonable produce to fuel healthier eating habits. What are some ways you can harness this Spring to spring into your wellness goals?
Stay consistent with your sleep routine (or go ahead and optimize your sleep routine now!)
Sleep dictates how we feel each day. It impacts our blood pressure, blood sugar, hunger, cravings, muscle growth, recovery from injury or illness, mood, and so much more. With shifting daylight hours, this is a great time to repriotize sleep! Getting some exercise during the day can help to improve your sleep quality at night. Setting a consistent wake up time can help you to solidify your sleep routine. If you need support in sleeping better, reach out to your MuuvWell coaches.
Fun in the Sun
With increasing daylight, plan to spend some safe time in the sun a few days per week for a positive impact on your mood, energy, and Vitamin D levels. Read more about the power of sunlight for your health, here.
Tis the Season (for produce!)
Now is the time to enjoy berries, lettuces, radishes, asparagus, mushrooms, herbs, and more! They are in-season! “In-season” means they are more affordable, potentially locally grown, and they taste better. Check your grocery ad, or talk to the growers at your local farmers market, to find out what foods are in season.
Plan for success
Now that we have a few more hours of light each day, and you’re feeling the Spring in your step – what do you want to prioritize for your health and wellness? Is it adding in some exercise before breakfast or after dinner since it will be light outside? Tending a tomato plant so you have fresh produce all Summer long? Planning some outdoor meet-ups to fuel your social wellness? Think about what you want more of this season, and make a plan to make it happen.
