The Power of Time in Nature

April 8, 2025

Spending time in nature is powerful for our minds and bodies. Within minutes of being outside, our blood pressure and stress hormones begin to decline. You may also experience a boost in mood and overall sense of well-being. Time outdoors can help you to be more present in the moment. Plus, you may get your daily dose of Vitamin D!

Time spent outdoors often leads to more physical activity, which is essential for good health. Whether it’s walking, riding a bike, spending time in the yard, or playing with your kids, movement in nature strengthens the body and boosts your mood.

Intentionally Spend Time Outdoors

So, next time you feel overwhelmed or disconnected, take a step outside. Even just a few minutes of fresh air in a park or a quiet moment listening to birds or noticing a gentle breeze can make a world of difference. Add an intentional moment of nature to your routine – whether that’s in the morning, parking further from the entrance to your work, taking your lunch outside a few times per week, or sitting outside after work for a few minutes to decompress. Pausing to appreciate nature can help to ground you in the present moment. The power of nature is a gift we all can tap into for better health and well-being.
