What is Spiritual Wellness?
Spiritual wellness involves finding balance and alignment in your values, relationships with others, and the overall meaning and purpose that shape your life. This does not mean that to be “spiritually well,” one must be religious; however, for many, spiritual wellness involves a “religious” component. For example, as a Christian, prayer, studying the Bible, and regular church attendance could all be important components of a personal spiritual well-being.
Incorporating Spiritual Wellness into your Busy Schedule
One thing is for sure: adding in another activity into our life is challenging, to say the least. However, it is possible to optimize our time to allow for spiritual practices. Here are some recommendations below:
- Practice a spirit of gratitude: Be mindful and thankful for all the good things in your life.
- Be present and positive: While gathering with friends and family this month, focus on having a positive attitude.
- Self-Reflection: Evaluate your life and daily actions to see if you are living in a manner consistent with your values. Additionally, spend time thinking about what the best version of yourself looks like and develop an action plan to transform into that person.
- Daily Meditation: Spend 5 minutes a day in complete silence with no distractions. This means turning off your cell phone and spending time alone in peace.
